The First Snow
Snowflakes falling on my nose
Thoughts fly from me there they go
They can come back another time
There’s a first for everything
Like when we first began to sing
The winter is giving us a kiss
The first snow
I see you
Lover snow
I feel you
Has it been about a year
Since you looked into the mirror
A mother of two looking at you
Seasons shift and children grow
Leaves that fall allow life to flow
There’s beauty at every turn
Mama snow
I see you
The first snow
I feel you
“Mama, snow!” Hugo and Juniper shouted. It was the first thickly flaked snowfall of winter, and the kids didn’t want me to miss it. We all watched for awhile, then I asked Brian to pull out his guitar to write a song about the first snow. He wrote one about me instead...and how our relationship with the first snow has changed during our time together. -M
